What is the issue?

Choose the issue that matches. You do not need to do the others.

I think I have missed a dose.

Do not take extra to catch up, even if you are sure you missed it. Check the patient leaflet or ask your pharmacist or prescriber. Depending on the medicine, you may be told to continue at your usual scheduled time.

I am running out of medication or I have run out.

Use your usual repeat-prescription system. Also contact the prescriber or pharmacy and tell them the supply will not arrive in time. They will help you work out the next step.

Side effects are bothering me.

Write down the side effects and discuss them with your prescriber or pharmacist. Do not change the dose yourself. Do not stop the medication without advice; depending on the medicine, abrupt stopping can cause withdrawal, rebound symptoms or other harm.

I think I have taken a double dose.

If you have taken more than prescribed, call your pharmacist or prescriber for advice. If you start to feel unwell or believe there is immediate danger, call 999.

I do not think the medication is helping and I want to stop.

Do not stop it abruptly. Ask your prescriber or pharmacist for advice first. Some medicines need to be reduced gradually to prevent withdrawal or rebound symptoms.
