Missing an appointment does not explain why you missed it

If you want help but keep missing it

ADHD can make you forget the appointment, lose track of time or leave the journey unplanned.

Contact your drug-and-alcohol worker: ‘I want to keep coming. My ADHD makes remembering and getting organised difficult. Can we make a plan for getting me to the next appointment?’

Prepare the next appointment together

Put the appointment and address in your calendar while you are booking. Add a reminder for getting ready and leaving.

Ask whether the service can send a reminder. If you need someone to help with the journey, ask a trusted person before the day.

If you have already missed it

Use the service's usual contact number or message route. Say: ‘I missed my appointment and still want support. Please tell me how to book another.’

For help with the alcohol or drug use itself, use the support guide linked below.
